Problems With Dates
Are you seeing this error:
.
If you have checked your Windows Regional Settings and you are convinced that your settings are correct then it could be that the EasyAs Software was setup with incorrect dates during setup.
.
Financial Period Setup
When you first installed the software there was a screen that instructed you to enter the periods of your financial year. There was very specific instruction advising that you check the settings entered as it will be impossible to resolve this at a later date.
The EasyAs Software is a unique program as it allows you to move about between different financial years at the click of your mouse, this is something rarely available with other accounting products.. . But to enable this to occur it must setup ALL your future financial years in advance (it sets up about 25 years).
The Financial Years are setup based upon the initial dates entered into the program during the installation.
The problem is that sometimes in this face paced world we tend to want to get through the installation fast so that we can begin using the program. Accounting is not something that any business owner likes doing, and because there are so many programs in the market place that are so difficult to use it can be time consuming looking for one that meets with your needs. Because of this we have seen clients from time to time who have plucked a date from the universe just so they can begin testing the program to see if it meets their needs, especially if this is the 2nd or 3rd program they have tested… But when they discover that the software is exactly what they were looking for they usually forget that they entered an incorrect date, thus they get into trouble some time in the future when they discover that the financial period is incorrect.
Of course not everyone is plucking dates out of thin air, and sometimes its just a mistake that was overlooked.
But the problem is this: There is no way to correct this error
Because of the way the software links every transaction with dates and financial year settings it uses a multiple of date stamps that get applied to every transaction. This means that the moment you enter a transaction the system carries out various other additional steps which occur out of view, these steps ensure that the transaction is stamped with the correct business (as you can run up to 5 businesses with Easyas) and the correct date stamp and financial year stamping.
So because of the above steps it is then impossible for the software to alter these settings as the variables involved and the number of different scenarios and possible transaction changes makes it impossible to alter this.
.
How do I check to see if EasyAs was setup with the incorrect settings.
This is a very simple process which only requires one click of your mouse. All you need to do is to run the easyas software, once you come to the main menu screen simply locate the “help” icon, click that icon and look towards the bottom of the help screen. You will see a display showing the current financial period. It will be displaying the From and To Dates, the Start and Finish Dates of your Financial Year.

How do I fix this
If you discover that the financial periods were entered incorrectly then you are going to be very disappointed and in a world of pain as there is no way to resolve it. There is no way to correct this error, there is nowhere within the software where you can simply change these dates after setup. As mentioned above this is because of the individual date stamps applied to all transactions in the program.
The only way to resolve this problem involves uninstalling of the easyas software, downloading and reinstalling the software again. Then setting the software up and starting your books all over again.
Of course this is going to be very annoying and depending upon how much information in your system it can be very time consuming.
We suggest that you take all necessary steps to ensure that you have all the information you need to be able to duplicate your books again. If it were me I would want to print out copies of all the entries made into the system so I have something to work with.. This includes the printing of your invoices, quotes etc…
Once you are confident that you have printed everything your need (or you have access to whatever you need) to ensure that you can restart your books all over again then simply uninstall the easyas software from your windows add/remove programs section. Then go to the main download page of easyas and download a copy of the program (it will be the 30 Day Trial – as this is the full program), install the program onto your computer and reset the software up.. Pay special attention to the setup process, there is a section to enter you Financial From and To Dates, it will be obvious to you, this section is highlighted during the setup process.
