Success in Business

Starting a small business in the 21st Century can be a relativity simple process, in fact all we need is a computer, mobile phone, some business cards and we are up and running.

Achieving Success on the other hands is a different story.  But don’t mistake what I am saying, I truly believe that every individual has exactly the same opportunity to become successful, there is no-one more apt to becoming successful than you.

However; over and over I hear the same stories.  I see so many individuals who are fired up when they first start out in business, they have a vision of what they want to achieve, but then some time in the distant future somewhere in amongst paying taxes, finding clients, juggling social activities, fitting in family with business needs, it all becomes a Trojan Horse rather than a bountiful harvest.

Staying Positive

Marketing your business is more than just placing advertisements in newspapers, getting on the web or handing out business cards or flyers.

You have most likely heard all the hype over the years about being positive, “you must be positive man”..  Well that’s really only part of the deal.

Being positive is only part of the real story; it is my belief and the belief of many of those that I have worked with over the years that one can be positive and yet still fail in business.

Its more than just that, its also about a mind set.  Changing the way you think and how you are looking at and approaching your business and family life.  This is the key to being and remaining successful.

Some of this information can take years and even decades to acquire and learn on your own, however by then its usually too late for many individuals.  In my life I have been involved in many businesses, and in the early days I tried to do it all on my own (which explains why I have been involved in many businesses).

Learning from the Best

I was lucky enough to find my way to a seminar with a Real Estate Agent back about a decade or so ago – yes a real estate agent is sort of like a plumber going to an accounting convention (it made no sense to me at the time).

However that seminar changed the way I approached my business activities.  I was already involved in reading a lot of positive books (creating a positive mental attitude), being in and around business in the 90’s this was all the rage.  But at this seminar I was introduced to more than positive attitude, I was introduced to the likes of Bob Proctor.
